The Team

The Story Behind Nurova

Nurova was founded in Seattle by David Jennings and Dragan Popovich, former Microsoft technology leaders who came together to build something deeply personal.The project began after Dragan suffered an ischemic stroke in 2023, which impacted his speech and motor control. During recovery, he experienced firsthand how isolating and confusing the moments between therapy sessions can be.David also carries a personal connection to cerebrovascular disease—having lost his mother to a cerebral aneurysm at age 56.These experiences led them to ask an important question:What if stroke survivors had a compassionate AI companion to help them through everyday moments of recovery?Nurova is the result of that question.Today, the project has two core goals:1. Help Dragan remain active, purposeful, and engaged in his own recovery journey
2. Build technology that can help millions of stroke survivors reclaim independence and dignity
